Truth of Indigenous Wisdoms

Acknowledging Garigal Country where I write and the Country on which you are reading this as the unceded land of the First Australians. 

Always was and Always will be. Thank you for your Custodianship.

To the Ancestors, present, future and emerging Indigenous Peoples, with the deepest respect and gratitude for your continued generosity and patience as we learn and heal together. 

At question time in a full Sydney Town Hall, I asked one of my mentors Marianne Williamson, how to assist opening the Hearts of Australians to hear the call in one of the most important gifts of our lifetimes; The Uluru Statement from the Heart. My cousin, proud Minjerribah man Dean Parkin collaborated to co-author it in 2017. I had last been in the town hall when it was gifted the Sydney Peace Prize. Marianne answered that our country was in a time of “Atonement”; a time of necessary reparation and healing. Far from religious doctrine this context is a spiritual one.

My Indigenous family and friends, many of whom are extraordinary Community Leaders, affirm the necessary healing and conscious education with 97% of Australians. 

I feel the call and power of this message and am shifting the focus of over a decade of activism to co-create the space for deep listening. Cultivating the personal attunement necessary to embody these wisdoms.

This last Sunday on National Sorry Day, with the blessing of Uncle Neil Evers one of the few remaining decedents and Traditional Custodians of Garigal Country on the Northern Beaches and the Chair of the Manly Warringah Pittwater Aboriginal Support Group, I launched the offer of this invitation.

To my friends and family I take the opportunity of National Sorry Day to apologise for when I have not seen where you see or understood where you understand; the innate truth of ONENESS and the illusion of separation from each other and Country. 

I walk with you in actualising restorative justice through sharing, learning, teaching, gathering and inspiring the more beautiful world our Hearts know is possible. Deeply listening to and bringing forth the ancient wisdoms of Custodianship, care for each other and sentience intrinsic to a VITAL LIFE for all.
